10 Things To Expect From Next-Gen Gaming

9. Augmented Reality

Augmented reality is one of those esoteric terms that the average gamer doesn't really know much about; it sounds futuristic, but once you know what it actually means, it does seem a little pompous and presumptive. Nevertheless, rumours emerged recently that the Xbox 720 would be introducing this technology by way of special glasses codenamed Fortaleza. The idea would be that these glasses would give the player some sort of additional heads-up interaction with their games console, allowing them to take the game beyond the bounds of their TV set, and with the possibilities of Wi-Fi, even outside their home. It remains to be seen whether this will actually make the final 720 console, but it's easy to see how companies would want to jump on such ambitious technology, even if we're a bit sceptical as to its applications beyond mere gimicry at the moment. As with anything on this list, time will tell.
