10 Things To Expect From Next-Gen Gaming

3. It'll Be The Last "Traditional" Gaming Generation

Every gaming generation to date has had a "war" between a number of game consoles, and of course, for the last decade-and-a-bit, it has squarely between between the big three - Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony. However, with the proliferation of mobile and tablet-based gaming, we expect the market shares to become much more delineated in the coming years; this eighth generation really may become the last traditional three-way war between platforms. Furthermore, the very notion of games consoles as they presently exist is likely to change; consoles are going to become even more like PCs, and with the prospect of companies like Steam releasing their own consoles, the competition is going to be even more fierce than before, but in a completely different way. Simply, it'll be an extremely exciting time to be a gamer, as we'll have more companies vying for our cash than ever, which hopefully will inspire both creativity and value for money more than ever too.
