10 Things We Desperately Want From Resident Evil 8

2. An Atmospheric Soundtrack

Capcom has done a commendable job in bringing the fear factor back to the series, thanks in no small part to the ultra-powerful RE Engine. Yet despite the beautifully grotesque visuals, there's still a key ingredient that's sorely missing.

The music.

The eerie soundtracks were an integral part of why the classic Resident Evil games were so terrifying. They were so nerve-shreddingly effective that you'd often enter an empty room, but be on constant guard because the music was indicating that something was lurking just out of the sight.

Capcom haven't all but abandoned the use of atmospheric music, they've just relegated it to the sidelines, reserving it for save rooms or big set-pieces. The visuals they're able to create with the RE Engine are truly nauseating, so having a little extra something just bubbling away underneath would be the perfect way to truly get under the player's skin.

It's worth noting that the original score for Resident Evil 2 was available in the remake and really helped sell that game as a righteous comeback for the series, but in typical Triple-A fashion, you had to pay for the privilege of owning it.

Though Resident Evil 3 Remake did include a more substantial offering in the soundtrack department, so there might be hope yet.
