10 Things You Didn't Expect To Happen When You 100% A Video Game

5. Do It All Again - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Usually when you hit the end of a game you get to sit back with a smug feeling of satisfaction, maybe have a relaxing vacation, not in Symphony of the Night, though, here you just have to do it all again.

This reveal isn’t quite at the 100% point but it’s where you’d naturally assume the 100% point to be. Let me paint you a word picture. You’re playing as Alucard, son of Dracula, exploring Dracula’s castle, after the prior hero Richter Belmont went missing. A woman named Maria is also seeking Richter. Basically you can hit the end game and kill off Richter who has decided he’s the new Lord of the castle or you can don some magic glasses given to you by Maria and reveal that an entity named Shaft is controlling Richter.

Then, boom, it’s not the end of the game after all and you’ll need to do everything again in an upside down version of the castle which is way harder. Surprise! You’re welcome?

Turns out the real ultimate battle is between Alucard and his resurrected father, Dracula, in the Reverse Castle.
