10 Things You Didn't Know About Borderlands 2

1. A Rather Heartfelt (And Interactive) Memorial

Borderlands 2
Gearbox Software

Companies like Gearbox Software spend millions of dollars putting their games together, so it's highly unlikely that they will change their code to please a fan. After all, we're talking about a lot of time and money that's needed to do anything, so it's unreasonable to expect they can or will fulfill a fan's request.

It's certainly reasonable to believe that about Gearbox, but it's not true. There's something that was added to Borderlands 2 specifically due to a fan request. A huge fan of Borderlands passed away before Borderlands 2 made it to release, so his friend Carlo shot out an email to Gearbox on his behalf.

Carlo asked if it would be possible to have Claptrap read a short eulogy for his friend, Michael, and Gearbox didn't hesitate. Not only did they fulfill the request for the eulogy, but they also threw Michael into Borderlands 2 as an NPC in tribute to him.

You can find the fabled Vault Hunter Michael Mamaril in Sanctuary, and if you take a moment to talk to him, he gives you a sweet gun. It's a beautiful homage to someone who loved the game, and it's a shame Michael never got to see himself pixelized within the world he loved.
