8. Chell's Name Can Be Seen On One Of The "Bring Your Daughter To Work Day" Exhibits

"Bring Your Daughter To Work Day" was the fateful event during which GLaDOS was first brought online and decided to slaughter everyone in the facility by releasing a lethal neurotoxin. In other words, the event which kickstarted the story of the Portal games.

There's an intriguing section of Portal 2 dedicated to this event. During Chapter 5, when Chell goes behind-the-scenes with Wheatley to try and escape, the pair happen upon a Bring Your Daughter to Work Day exhibit filled with children's science projects.

Baking soda volcanoes, potato batteries, that sort of thing. One such potato has grown into a starchy behemoth, extending right up into the ceiling and drawing the player's eye.

If you look a little closer at the display board behind this potato, you'll see that the project belongs to a certain "Chell". This indicates that the player character was actually the daughter of an Aperture Science employee. Perhaps her father is Doug Rattmann, the mystery man who scribbles all over Aperture's walls?

Or perhaps her mother is Cave Johnson's assistant Caroline, which would make Chell the daughter of GLaDOS...

Nobody knows for sure, and the game's developers are likely still smirking about the fact that fans are theorising on the subject to this day.

Nobody's convinced... but nobody's told him that yet. He spends his spare time working on Portal 2: Desolation, an ambitious fan-made sequel to Valve's beloved puzzle games.
