10 Thought-Provoking Video Games That Haunted You For Days

2. Metal Gear Solid 2

Put aside the Raiden controversy and the bizarre nature of the final stages; Metal Gear Solid 2 is a great game that rightfully turned Hideo Kojima's series into a gaming legend. With a quirky storyline and tight, stealth gameplay, it's not hard to see why the series is so beloved and much of that zaniness that the series is renowned for can be traced back to the second instalment. Despite all of this, behind the naked protagonists and sexual-deviant Presidents, Metal Gear Solid 2 is a satisfying experience for the mind. While playing through, you may begin to notice small connections between the events at the Big Shell and those shown in the original game on Shadow Moses. You might even draw comparisons between Raiden and Solid Snake and their various skills - as much as it might pain you to do so. All of this is on purpose as the Big Shell incident is deliberately created by a group known as the Patriots to turn Raiden into a legendary soldier with the same abilities and know-how as Solid Snake himself. The Patriots also wanted to see how easy it was to control a section of the populace to prevent society "dumbing down". The mysterious Patriots have been controlling the world for years it seems and this is a storyline that runs throughout Metal Gear Solid - it's almost as vital as those pesky nanomachines. There's an even more haunting moment though. Right at the end of the game, post-credits, there's a small epilogue which features Snake and Otacon discussing the information they have acquired on the Patriots. The delivery is pretty phenomenal and it definitely leaves a lasting impact on the player - see for yourself below. Metal Gear Solid 2 might be remembered as a confusing and bizarre game but the way it sticks in your mind is mightily impressive all the same. http://youtu.be/BrL7wo5-nJo?t=12m21s

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
