10 Times Video Game Adverts Lied (And It Was The BEST)
1. P.T.
Who can forget P.T? This horror game captivated the internet in 2014 with the simple lie that it was a free-to-play spookfest with no hidden agenda. Of course, that was never the case, as the entire thing was an ad for something even bigger.
For those unaware, this short gaming experience, directed by Hideo Kojima in collaboration with Guillermo del Toro, gave players a horror title so scary that most couldn't even finish it. However, those brave and resourceful enough to reach the end received the gift of knowledge, learning that the whole thing was a playable teaser for an upcoming Silent Hill reboot. Oh, how exciting it was!
This will likely go down as one of gaming's best reveals, as Silent Hill was a property that had been starved of new content for years. Discovering that there would be a fresh game in the franchise was delightful, and the fact it would build one something already this good was mouth-watering.
Of course, this tale has a tragic ending as Kojima and Konami suffered a massive falling out and the promised title was never made. But, hey, at least that led to Death Stranding!
