10 Times Video Games Got Weapons Wrong
6. Minigun Madness - Grand Theft Auto V
The minigun is quite frankly, an astounding concept.
Weighing in at 85 lbs (or 41 lbs for the 'lightweight' modification) and able to fire between 2,000 and 6,000 rounds per minute, the most common iteration of the minigun seen in video games is the model M134.
Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V is no exception to this. First introduced in the 2002 release Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the minigun has been a mainstay of the franchise, making appearances in a total of eight games.
However, it is in the wild and wacky world of GTA V that the minigun receives it's least realistic iteration. Due to several restraints regarding the manufacture of the weapon, the standard version, equating to seventeen bricks, is always mounted, so the version seen in video games is the lightweight version of the M134.
While eight bricks may seem more manageable, you must also consider the ammunition. Capable of holding 9,999 rounds once the shooting skill is maxed out, this much ammunition would equate to an additional 600 lbs in weight.
If you're telling me that you believe you can carry the equivalent of 128 bricks at once, whilst walking forward, without a support brace, and whilst keeping recoil to virtual non-existence, then you're either Thor, or a liar.
