10 Tiny Details In Games That Made Them So Much Better

5. Literal Poop - Dark Souls

I understand that I’ve gone on a tangent about how these details can be intricate, clever, game world-affirming additions and now I’m talking about a poop but bear with me.

The Chosen Undead may have been cursed with the Darksign to never die,is forced to face unimaginable odds in battle, and navigate a nightmarish world, but a hero’s still gotta go... you know?

The entire Soulsbourne series is full of enchanting and horrifying little details ready to unveil themselves to particularly observant players. It may not be the most haunting example but plenty of players were suitably impressed by the decision of some FromSoftware developer to 3D model a poop into a pot in the Chosen Undead’s cell.

You have to manoeuvre the camera just so in order to see it but it is indeed there and it answers that question you may or may not have had. Part of the reason this series is so great is things like this that encourage and reward you for stopping and looking, not just running on ahead.

Even if you think this one is a bit silly, it does represent the extreme attention to detail from the devs that has made every game in the series so much better and a cult favourite.
