10 Tiny Details Video Games ALWAYS Get Wrong

5. Food Magically Vanishes

For decades, consuming food as a means for regaining some much-needed health or has been a staple of video games dating back to the days of Dragon Slayer II: Xandu back in 1985.

Fast forward three and a half decades later and munching on some snacks is still a common method for regaining health as well as keeping characters alive in survival games. Although, contrary to what video games suggest, snacking isn't an effective treatment for multiple bullet wounds and whole wheels of cheese can't be devoured in one bite. Likewise, games also fail to address another detail about food...

Try eating a bowl of stew in Red Dead Redemption 2, for example.

The bowl will remain full of the tantalising meal until a few spoonfuls later, at which point it miraculously vanishes. The same holds true for drinking in games, too. The beverage's container will typically stay full for the first few sips before disappearing when the animation is complete.

Of course, having food physically and realistically deplete in games would be incredibly time consuming for developers to animate, but that doesn't make the oddity any less strange when noticed.
