10 Truly Terrible Video Games Based On Great TV Shows
8. Prison Break – The Conspiracy
Who asked for this? Who asked for more than one series of Prison Break? It was shown on channel Five in the UK for goodness’ sake. The story of Michael Scofield trying to spring his brother, Lincoln Burrows, from prison by tattooing the blueprints cryptically onto his body was interesting for around four episodes in 2005 and, by the time the game was released, the series had been dropped and it ended up being a painful reminder of a dodgy drama.
In a similar vein to the awful Enter the Matrix’ you weren’t even allowed to play as a main character from the series. Instead, you played the part of Tom Paxton, a government agent sent into the prison undercover to ensure Lincoln Burrows is executed – basically, you play the bad guy and you’re aware of it from the start.
Excellent news for those who take the immoral options in RPGs but, for those of us who follow the light, it was a dire choice of story. Add in an episodic structure and gameplay as user friendly as HAL 9000 and you’ve got yourself a steaming pile of you know what that deserves its entire development team being sent down for public indecency.
