10 Truly Terrible Video Games Based On Great TV Shows
7. 24: The Game
Those who remember the never-ending wait for next week’s episode of 24 will be all too familiar with crippling anticipation served with a side of inevitable disappointment.
As a series, it was a superb idea but it became so far-fetched that it seemed everyone, except Jack Bauer, was definitely working with the terrorists and had to be assassinated using progressively weirder approaches. Then we got a game.
The biggest criticism of the game was without doubt the awful graphics. We’d seen some truly spectacular stuff and some Dali-esque efforts on the PS2 but the rendering of Kiefer Sutherland’s face made it look as though he’d been designed by someone who had never seen the man before – you can’t just make up how Bauer looks. Bauer is Bauer.
Graphics aside; the game was split into third person shooting, driving, and tedious mini game sections that were clearly unfinished. The third person aspects were very basic and, if you were stood far enough away, you could shoot the AI without them noticing you or dropping dead as they should've. Fun. Driving was akin to GTA III’s rampage mode where passers by had no regard for their own safety, and the mini games were repetitive and obvious, much like the series became after the third outing.
