10 Underused Video Game Characters You Fell In Love With

9. The Merchant - Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 4 is about as close as any legit scary piece of horror media has ever come to the descriptor of "charming", and a lot of that has to do with the fun and wacky characters that you meet along the way. One of the most popular of these one off characters is the mysterious and eccentric Merchant.

No one knows where this weirdo came from, who he is, or why he seems to be stalking Leon throughout the game without a single one of the many monsters Leon mows down between meetups with him seem to notice the gravely voiced hobo man in the gaudy black robe. All we know about him is that he really, REALLY wants to sell Leon some guns, and that's pretty much all you need to know about him.

It really is a shame that the Merchant basically disappears after Resident Evil 4, because this was a fun as hell character, and it isn't like there weren't ample places to put him in following games. C'mon, Capcom, where's your respect for independent businessmen?
