10 Underwhelming Video Games With MUST-PLAY DLC

1. Citadel - Mass Effect 3

BioWare

Mass Effect 3 didn't just deserve a DLC. After the scathing reception of the threequel's ending, it NEEDED one. If this spacefaring role-player didn't get an expansion that remedied this unanimously reviled climax, the fanbase would've rioted.

Like a genie, BioWare granted gamers' wishes, by releasing several downloadable packs, which concluded in Citadel. Although it seemed impossible for the developers to please everyone, they pulled it off. Dangling plot threads were resolved. Every character felt fully explored. Every relationship reached its conclusion. Most importantly, your choices felt like they mattered.

Yes, there's a hefty amount of fan-service, but Citadel gets away with it. The players were genuinely hurt by the original ending, so you can't blame the developers for going a little nuts with the injokes and callbacks. Incorporating a humorous tone was a risky move, but it paid off, since it shows a side of our heroes we've never seen before.

Even though the creators was under ludicrous pressure to course-correct their error, they absolutely nailed it, making Citadel the incontestable ending to the Mass Effect saga. Not only did this ensemble get the closure they deserved, so did we.

Thanks, BioWare. We forgive you.
