10 Unforgettable Video Game Theme Tunes

9. Silent Hill 3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjw70QwiccQ All of the Silent Hill games have excellent theme tunes, owing to the excellent contributions of series mainstay Akira Yamaoka, a talent so appreciated that he also served as composer and producer on both of the Silent Hill movies to date. Like many of the other memorable songs from the Silent Hill games, Yamaoka's excellent "You're Not Here", the title song for the third game, features jangly guitars and angsty, ethereal vocals, creating a unique tone that really hasn't ever been replicated within the survival horror genre. Though a guitar-driven track like this might not seem like the most natural fit for a moody, atmospheric psychological thriller, it totally works, in large part due to the conviction of Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's haunting vocal elements. In fact, so popular was the song that it ended up being used in the end credits for the first Silent Hill film. An inspired choice indeed.
