10 Unique Fast Travel Secrets You Totally Missed
6. Flying Duck - Link To The Past
Flute Boy's Bird is not some elaborate way of giving someone the middle finger, as the name might suggest.
Instead, it is the secret NPC in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past that allows Link to fast-travel around the world.
The Flute Boy's Bird, also known as the Duck, is the seemingly lifeless statue that adorns the different landmarks around the map.
You wouldn't realize this at first glance, but the bird is actually alive. Moreover, once you find the whistle in the Haunted Grove, you can use the instrument to awaken the bird and then summon it to instantly take you to one of the landmarks it resides in.
Because the whistle is buried under a flower patch in the Grove and the game doesn't outright tell you there is a way to fast travel, a lot of beginner Link to the Past players tend to miss out on this amazing feature, dooming themselves to travel everywhere on foot.
Even worse, they deny themselves the glory that is the animation of Link flying across Hyrule holding onto the foot of a tiny, adorable duck.
Ah, the charm of old Zelda games...
