10 Unique Video Game Difficulty Modes That Will Break You
5. Resident Evil - Invisible Enemy/One Dangerous Zombie
The granddaddy of survival horror, Resident Evil is no stranger to giving its players a tough mountain to climb with its harsh difficulty, resilient enemies, and worst of all, Sheva.
Both of these modes appear on the 2002 remake of the original Resident Evil as well as the HD remaster, and are only available after either completing the Real Survival mode or completing the game on Normal or Hard with both Chris and Jill.
As the name suggests, in Invisible Enemy mode the player cannot see any zombies or bosses in a conventional sense. Enemies appear in mirrors, create ripples when walking through puddles or water, and are visible when attacking/grappling the player. Auto-aim is disabled for this mode, so players cannot simply snap aim to threats to keep themselves safe.
One Dangerous Zombie puts a zombified Forest Speyer (a member of the STARS team) in specific locations around the Spencer estate. He wears a ballistic vest full of grenades that instantly explode and trigger a game over if he takes any damage, so he must be avoided at all costs. However, Forest disappears once the player acquires the Helmet Key, having the hunters take his place.
