10 Upcoming Gaming Sequels (We Really Don't Need)

1. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

And still, our #1 spot goes to a game that is at once excessive and hugely anticipated: the latest entry in the Metal Gear Solid series, The Phantom Pain. The Metal Gear Solid series could easily have finished once and for all with Guns of the Patriots, which concluded Solid Snake's storyline with an emotionally gratifying send-off, but for part five, Hideo Kojima is again mining the ghosts of the past, as we control Big Boss through one of his classic skirmishes. Fair play to Kojima: the indecently short Ground Zeroes at least made it clear that the gameplay is going to be slicker and more refined than ever before, but Kojima's really just filling in the gaps now and hoping to milk a little more cash out of a story that has pretty much done everything it needs to. Still, it won't reek of exploiting its fanbase as badly as Ground Zeroes did, and though nobody needs to see more of Big Boss' story, hopefully Kojima will make it seem as crucial as he usually does with some clever tie-ins to the mythology so far. Did we miss any upcoming sequels that are just pointless? Let us know in the comments below!
