It's extremely impressive that Ubisoft has managed to maintain such a consistent level of quality in their 7 years of Assassin's Creed titles, including 6 core games and a multitude of spin-offs. Assassin's Creed: Unity is the latest effort, due out for release at the end of the year, and though the Parisian setting and addition of parkour will allow for some promising prospects, it's safe to say that this is one franchise that could do with a little creative rejuvenation. The games are evidently successful enough to justify the continuous, annual development cycle, but it'd be great to see a game that actually moves the story on a little more and aims for some sort of concluding point. Releasing a new game every two years at the most would certainly allow this, as has been a successful model for countless video game series over the years. As it stands, the Assassin's Creed series feel competently assembled and entertaining, but also milked to the point of near-exhaustion, where little is surprising and mission objectives are simply by-the-numbers, going through the motions affairs.
