10 Upcoming PS5 & Xbox Series X Open-World Games You Need To Know About

Xbox is going all-in on open world games this year, having bought up some of the most exciting names in the genre. One that doesn't get enough attention, however, is Bethesda's Arkane Studios, the team responsible for the excellent open-world (or open-world adjacent) titles Dishonored, Prey and Deathloop.

In May, the team releases their next new property: the vampire-themed Redfall. Unlike the other single-player titles the team has released, Redfall is a first-person shooter experience that can be played with up to three other people in co-op. Teams are encouraged to band together and play to their characters' strengths, with unique abilities, gadgets and weapons helping them keep the supernatural hordes at bay.

Previously, Arkane's releases have been defined by their responsive play spaces, so let's hope that element gets the same amount of attention here. While the devs' combat systems have never been cutting edge, they've always facilitated brilliant mechanical experimentation and player freedom. Whether these elements can allow Redfall's now out-of-vogue four-player multiplayer framing to prove the detractors wrong remains to be seen, but it's absolutely a game that should be on your radar.
