10 Upcoming Video Games Being Sent Out To Die

9. The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum

You'd barely know that a new Lord of the Rings game is due out for release in a matter of weeks, so low-key has the marketing been for The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum.

Developed by Daedalic Entertainment, a studio best known for their point-and-click adventure games, it's fair to say that Gollum lacks the mega-budget sheen you'd expect from a Rings game, but even so, the fanfare for this thing is shockingly low.

With Amazon's Rings TV show, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, set to premiere on September 2 - the day after Gollum's release - it's baffling that the game's marketing campaign hasn't attempted to piggyback off this.

The likely answer is that publisher Nacon knows they've got a dud on their hands and doesn't see much commercial value in excessively promoting the game, instead sending it out with a minimal push in the hope of simply recouping their investment.
