10 Upcoming Video Games In HUGE Trouble
4. Six Days In Fallujah
First-person shooter Six Days in Fallujah was first announced all the way back in 2009, a game which would allow players to shoot their way through the Second Battle of Fallujah - a battle in the Iraq War which caused the deaths of an estimated 800 Iraqi civilians.
Upon its initial reveal, many questioned the game's appropriateness in dramatising such a recent tragic battle for the sake of entertainment, causing publisher Konami to walk away from the project in April 2009.
Even with a resulting mass exodus from developer Atomic Games, they continued to insist the game was coming out in the years that followed, even as word went increasingly quiet.
And then, in early 2021, it was announced that a reworked version of Six Days in Fallujah was nearing release, in which players would control not only Marines but also the patriarch of an Iraqi civilian family.
The online response to the game's resurrection was sharply critical, with many calling for Sony, Microsoft, and Valve to deny its release on their respective platforms.
Last November it received a large delay to Q4 2022, yet with the year getting close to wrapping up, we've heard precious little since. And even if it does release, there's very little chance that Six Days in Fallujah is anything but a lightning rod for people's frustration.
