10 Upcoming Video Games That Are Already Doomed
1. Star Citizen
It admittedly seems a tad absurd to describe Star Citizen as "already doomed," both given that the ambitious sci-fi epic was first announced back in 2012, and as of last November has amassed a mind-boggling $750 million in funding.
Yet such a protracted production period has led to extensive criticism of developer Cloud Imperium Games, with many fans convinced that the scope of the project has grown beyond their control, while others have outright dismissed it as a "scam."
A recent report noted that the developer is now spending upwards of $100 million per year on Star Citizen, seeming to suggest an unsustainable business model even with the game's enormous budget. Simply, the money is surely going to run out eventually.
Between this, reports about intense crunch periods, and recent layoffs at the studio, it's tough to see a successful path forward for a game that's already left so many so jaded.
