10 Ups & 4 Downs For AEW: Fight Forever - REVIEW
4. Mildly Clunky
For the most part, the gameplay of AEW: Fight Forever is smooth, natural and fun, but there are a few clunky issues that arise at times.
One particular issue seems to crop up when an opponent is lying on the mat and you try to move past them. Occasionally, your wrestler will get, for lack of a better term, 'wedged' and will be unable to pass the fallen grappler. This is something that is most notable in multi-person bouts, although it does happen in singles matches, too.
Elsewhere, referees can take far too long to actually start counting a pinfall. The pinfall mechanic itself is easy to execute, and the counts have a nice feel to them - especially if you manage to kick out at 2.99 - but the issue is the time it sometimes takes for Aubrey Edwards or Rick Knock to actually get down to the mat and start their count.
Given how your writer was playing Fight Forever a week prior to its official release, obviously these minor quibbles are something that can be easily rectified with a post-release patch or two.
