10 Useless Video Game Abilities You WASTED Skill Points On

2. Inspire - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Unlike basically every other skill or perk on this list, this one is at least thoroughly tongue-in-cheek.

In Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Jack's skill tree The Hero of This Story will allow players to purchase a tier-3 skill called Inspire.

By name alone, you might assume that it provides some sort of passive buff to, say, defense, but in actual fact, it merely results in Jack periodically quipping at the player. Yup.

Literally, the skill will cause Jack to occasionally shout words of encouragement, such as telling the player they're doing really well or, hilariously, suggesting that they must be cool because they're hanging around with him, while the starry-styled word "Inspired!" crawls across the screen.

But that's not all - upon dying and respawning, Jack will make fun of you, while "Disillusioned" appears on-screen accompanied by a stream of falling tears.

This of course does nothing to change the gameplay whatsoever, and so it is for all intents and purposes useless, but at least entertaining enough to perhaps not feel like a total waste.
