9. Pac-Man
In every incarnation of Pac-Man, it has always been suggested that the design we see is the character's entire body. Even the cartoon didn't mess with this too much, he just was just a circle with arms and legs. But looking at this Atari cover, we have to wonder whether we might have been wrong this whole time? Is there something that Capcom didn't tell us? Is Pac-Man actually a dismembered head hopping along the maze seeking revenge for his missing body parts? It all puts a different spin on the Pac-man story: Pac was once a basketball player (for some reason with his own face on his vest) who clearly found himself cruelly decapitated by those morbid ghosts, who ate his body, if that devilish, hungry look on the red guys face is anything to go by. They stole his clothing and size 28 sneakers, chopped him up and just rolled his head out into the maze, insisting he endlessly gobble down dots on the false promise he'd one day be reunited with his body. He was never just a mindless yellow dot eating smaller white dots, he's a man cursed to chomp forever until he can finally get his arms and legs back.
