10 Video Game Achievements That Made You Say WHAT?!

Though the Wii U sadly doesn't have any system-wide achievements system, games such as Xenoblade Chronicles X nevertheless shipped with their own self-contained set of 'cheevs.

And boy, the game rocks an eye-watering 749 achievements in total for doing, well, just about everything it has to offer.

In terms of story-based 'cheevs, you'll generally unlock four or five achievements for each of the game's dozen chapters, divided into four or five parts as they are.

This is all well and good, except an achievement at the very end of the game blatantly spoils that, just as the adventure seems to be wrapping up, it ain't quite over yet.

After apparently defeating the game's primary antagonist Luxaar for good, a cutscene plays out which seems to start wrapping up the story, complete with suitably upbeat music.

Once the cutscene fades to black, though, an achievement pops which reads, "Chapter 12 in Progress (4/5)," making it clear that your celebration is a tad premature, and there's still something left to come.

Mere seconds later, another cutscene begins in which all hell breaks loose, as Luxaar returns from the dead and players have to battle the real final boss, a genetically mutated Lao. Gee, who could've seen that coming?
