2. Resident Evil - Knives Out
Yours truly could speedrun Resident Evil 2 back in the day in just under two hours, with an S rank. This is back in the days before speedrunning was a thing, but it was still cool. You know what I could never do though? A knife-only run.
Evasive, yes. Bringing a blade to an undead fight, no chance.
Yet that are a core contingent of Resident Evil fans, from the chunky "Jill Sandwich" days, through the remastered and HD'd iterations, all the way to the present remakes that will go at it with nothing but quick wits, quicker reflexes and a blade.
It's pretty mad, in an admirable way, when you consider how much of an arsenal an average Resi game throws at you. Dunno about you, but if someone offered me a minigun over six inches of serrated metal and my other item slots were full of mushed herbs and inexplicably designed keys, I know what's getting left behind.
But no, some mad smashers will take on the Nemesis with a knife and a smile. There's even knife-only speedruns!
