10 Video Game Acting Performances Worthy Of An Oscar
4. Armin Shimermann - Andrew Ryan (Bioshock)
From the moment you enter the underwater city of Rapture, you can immediately sense that something is up. Walls are covered in blood, the entire place is disconcertingly empty and there are huge lumbering giants in diving suits doing God knows what.
Then you meet Andrew Ryan, well, you hear Andrew Ryan, and it's testament to Armin Shimermann’s performance that the impact is not dulled. If anything, it is heightened, as Ryan chillingly introduces himself before ordering his gang of splicers to tear you apart.
Throughout the game, Ryan continues to torment you through the radio, with Shimermann’s sinister delivery invoking feelings of genuine fear as you make your way through his underwater labyrinth. He manages to enthral throughout the entire campaign and is sorely missed once you have disposed of him and are left with the much less interesting Fontaine.
