10 Video Game Bad Endings You Can Get By Pure Accident
6. Collect All Things, Lose The Game! - Blair Witch
The whole point of collectibles is to, well, collect them! It’s what games have been telling us to do ever since the first Mario Bros. and all of the shiny coins scattered across its levels.
However, this kind of logic does not apply to the Blair Witch game, because if you take the time to collect all of its dolls and carved figurines, you’ll be set on course to getting the worst ending in the game!
That’s right! Blair Witch is an incredibly manipulative game that sets you up for your own failure. Every time you follow your gaming instinct and fight monsters instead of avoiding them or pick up things that clearly look like collectibles, the game brings you closer to the bad ending where your character becomes possessed and takes the place of its main antagonist.
To get the good ending, you have to avoid all of the things you’re naturally drawn to. This is pretty difficult to do even when you’re already aware of the twist, because picking up even one figure can already doom you to losing, and you can probably tell how hard it is to dodge small collectible objects while navigating through a dark forest.
