10 Video Game Bosses That Totally Sucked

3. Every Boss In The Damn Game - Deus Ex: Human Revolution

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCgOqs0e4Ag It's become something of a running joke that the bosses in Deus Ex: Human Revolution are, frankly, bloody awful. Given how intelligently-plotted and well-designed the rest of the game is, these boss fights just don't pass muster, primarily because they were incredulously designed by another studio and shoehorned into the game. The whole point of the Deus Ex games is providing the player with choice to move through the game however they want, be it as a stealthy, non-lethal ninja, or as a balls-out tank of a man, but these boss fights remove this very notion of choice and force the player into some very awkward positions indeed. Every boss fight here is the same; you're trapped in a small, enclosed space with said boss, and have a 1-on-1 fight, usually running around the environment and firing at the enemy until they finally collapse in a crumpled heap. What really doesn't make sense if that forcing players into a confrontation like this leaves stealthy players up the creek; how are they supposed to cope with a fierce boss if they've not upgraded their health and armour, and instead focused on upgrades for stealth? You are forced to kill the baddies, which completely betrays the notion of choice, and resulted in the developers even admitting that it was a sucky, nonsensical idea. Thankfully, there aren't many boss fights in the game, but it's still a noted blemish on an otherwise great game.
