10 Video Game Bosses Who JUST WOULDN'T DIE

6. Ridley - Metroid

Despite never being the central baddie in Metroid, there's no doubt Ridley is Samus Aran's arch-nemesis. Not only did he murder Samus' parents, the galactic bounty hunter has fought Ridley more than anyone.

Even though each encounter with the sadistic pterosaur ends with his apparent demise, his healing powers allow him to stave off death time and time again. Even when Ridley has well and truly kicked the bucket, the Space Pirate general keeps being resurrected, often through cloning or enhanced cybernetics.

Though Ridley rarely serves as the final boss, he's one of the hardest enemies in each game he features in. He can strike from afar with astounding precision, and shuffle off Samus' strongest attacks. Due to his phenomenal speed and tiny weak point, Ridley is a nightmare to hit. For this reason, our heroine can use up all her heavy artillery long before the winged fiend's health bar depletes.

Every time Ridley challenges Samus, players have to accept the strong possibility they are going to see the Game Over screen quite a few times. Worst of all, players can't rest easy after vanquishing this diabolical foe, knowing his return is assured.
