10 Video Game Bugs That Became Features

9. Creepers - Minecraft

Turns out the iconic creepers of Minecraft weren’t supposed to be creepy at all. In fact, they were supposed to be pigs but when a programming error occurred which reversed the length and height dimensions, they ended up much taller than they were supposed to be.

Thus their extraordinarily weird form was brought to life in late 2009.

Instead of just having a laugh at the weirdly tall pig, correcting the mistake, and moving on with coding, it was decided to turn the creature green and lean into the weirdness. Thus the creepers we know and hate came into being and would begin horrifying players by spawning in the dark and attacking those who stray too close for years to come.
