10 Video Game Character Redesigns NOBODY Asked For
2. Peter Parker - Spider-Man
Now this one's really baffling.
Insomniac's acclaimed 2018 Spider-Man game is getting a neato remaster for the PS5, as will be packaged with the Ultimate Edition of Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Beyond offering up sharp new visuals to take full advantage of the PS5's graphical tech, the game will also see Peter Parker's face changed from original model John Bubniak to a new model, Ben Jordan.
The official reasoning for this is that Insomniac wanted to find a facial model who more closely resembled voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, allowing them to more easily translate Lowenthal's facial capture onto the new model.
However, many fans assumed a more cynical rationale, that Insomniac wanted to have him better resemble the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, to which he bears an unmistakable likeness.
Above all else, the PS5 Peter simply looks decidedly more baby-faced than the PS4 version, which doesn't really vibe with the fact he's supposed to be a 23-year-old man in the game. In his new iteration, he looks more like a gormless, doe-eyed teenager.
