There's something deeply therapeutic about Eric Barone's addictive farm sim. Stardew Valley allows players to take part in many calming activities, such as fishing, tending to vegetables, and caring for animals.

Unlike the majority of games, there is no physical danger. There are no death-trap filled levels. No lava pits. And most importantly, no enemies... well, for the most part. Depending on the player's actions, some NPCs are sure to give you the stink-eye.

You see, there are six males and females in Stardew Valley who can become romantically involved with the protagonist. Naturally, it's up to the player to decide who to be with. But if they're up for it, they can date everyone simultaneously.

However, dating six candidates of either gender will trigger an event where they confront the main character in the tavern, saying  how manipulative and callous they are. The player can choose to apologise, defend their actions, or sob their heart out. Just to make things more awkward, choosing to fool around will cause the girlfriends/boyfriends to shun you for a week.

It's hard not to feel like scum when half of the game's characters behave like this, especially since the player has to go out of their way to screw everyone over.
