10 Video Game Characters That Were Created For The Most Shocking Reasons
8. Creepers Were Orignally Pigs
Creepers have been the face of Minecraft since the game was still in its alpha version. The face of one even appears in the game's logo, and yet these goofy-looking demolition experts weren't created on purpose. They are actually the really ugly child of an unholy union between a pig and a graphical glitch.
When Notch, the original creator of Minecraft, was testing the game out in its early stages, he accidentally caused all the pigs in the game to stand upright, with their four legs still firmly on the ground. As if that wasn't disturbing enough as it is, because the game's AI was programmed so that it would turn hostile when looking at the player at head level, the malformed pigs started attacking their creator.
This eerie glitch immediately sparked Notch's imagination. He decided to turn it into an actual mob in the game by giving the weird pigs a natural camouflage and, of course, some explosive properties. The legendary Creeper was born, and it went on to become the staple of the game.
