4. Sam Was Going To Be The Main Villain - Uncharted 4

Although Sam Drake can bring out some worrying qualities in his younger brother Nate, his role in Uncharted 4 is ultimately that of a supporting and loving sibling who wants to go on an exciting (if not slightly irresponsible) adventure for treasure and fame.

This hasn't always been the plan for Sam, however. In the original drafts of the Uncharted series' creator, Amy Henning, Sam Drake was actually meant to be a villain in Nathan's story. Henning's Sam was going to be a darker take on the character, a bitter and manipulative man who would be completely bent on proving his mother's claims and taking revenge for spending most of his life in prison.

To this extent, he would be ready to abuse and manipulate Nathan, tugging at his heartstrings and using their shared past to make his little brother commit terrible crimes and give him what he wants.

Whether this darker tone would've worked better for Uncharted 4 is anyone's guess, but one thing we can be certain of is that the Sam we got is still an incredibly fascinating and nuanced guy.
