10 Video Game Characters Who Would Make A Great Superhero Team

4. Lightning - Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

Do not let the delicate face and slim build fool you, Lightning is one of gaming’s top tier powers.

Groomed by Bhunivelze, Final Fantasy’s most powerful god, to be his chosen replacement for the goddess of death, Lighting begins the game as a demi-god and, by holding her own against him, proves herself one of the series’ most powerful beings.

To get an idea of her capabilities look no further than the game’s opening cinematic. She is blindingly fast, acrobatic to the point of being gravity-defying, and strong enough to resist the full force of monsters more than four times her size bearing down on her. Add the ability to manipulate elemental magic and expert swordsmanship and you have, as Snow puts it, ‘a regular angel of death’.

Thus, if Kratos is the sledgehammer, Lightning is the rapier. Kratos smashes an opponent to pieces. Lightning cuts them to ribbons.

She is no ray of sunshine, but having spent most of the previous two games fighting alongside her friends she understands teamwork, and while someone like Devil May Cry’s Dante may be more powerful, it is that ability to gel with a team that ultimately secures her place on this list.
