10 Video Game Developer In-Jokes You Totally Missed

Many AAA games are famously buggy in certain places, and, some of the time, when there's no risk of ruining your save file, this just makes them all the more fun to play.

The first Red Dead Redemption's most bizarre and hilarious glitch was the "donkey lady", a female NPC whose code was seemingly mixed with that of a donkey. She had the face of one, and could literally be ridden like one.

Come Red Dead Redemption 2, you get the impression the developers at Rockstar must have found this just as funny, given that there's a very easy-to-miss easter egg referring to it in the region of Cholla Springs.

Tied to a mill near a well are the skeletal remains of a woman with a donkey's skull where her face should be. Neither Arthur Morgan nor John Marston knows what to make of this creature, each offering journal entries pondering on what the poor thing was, and who would do such a thing to it.

I guess we'll never know. But with Red Dead Redemption 2 being a prequel, at least we can rest assured that the line of donkey ladies clearly hasn't died out.
