When Blizzard first announced Diablo III, cries of pure delight from the fantasy dungeon-crawler fanbase were heard around the world. However, a sequel to what many consider one of the greatest video games of all time had a LOT to live up to, and when gameplay trailers emerged, fans were up in arms within the millisecond.

Among the complaints was the bright and cartoony art style, which was a huge departure from the uniquely dark, chilling atmosphere of Diablo I and II. Blizzard took note of this - in their own way, at least - and in response to the criticism, the land of Whimsyshire was born.

To access this world of rainbows, unicorns and health-replenishing cupcakes, you'll need to pick up a whole laundry list of items (most notably Wirt's Bell, which is a reference to both the character in Diablo I and the Secret Cow Level in Diablo II). It's worth it, though, if only to see how the developers at Blizzard seem to handle negative feedback.

So, then, while it may not address the main problem people have with the game, it at least stands as a humorous little hidden secret and an affirmation from the developers that they'll do what they damn well like.
