10 Video Game Developers That Sony Should Buy
5. Supermassive Games
Sony worked in tandem with Supermassive Games a few years back to produce the criminally underrated exclusive, Until Dawn. It was legitimately one of the best horror games ever made and an interactive narrative adventure that outdid Quantic Dream at its own game. Fans have been pining for a sequel ever since.
Prior to the game's release however, many were quick to ridicule Until Dawn and presume it would suck. Well, it seemed the sentiment got to Sony because it forgot to promote or advertise the game in any meaningful way - including around Halloween. Somehow, the game was a pretty big success regardless, attaining a 79% on Metacritic and selling beyond expectations.
Supermassive has subsequently produced two spiritual successor games in the form of The Inpatient and Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, two PSVR games. It has also made Tumble VR and Bravo Team (VR), but now it's working on a multi-platform horror series called The Dark Pictures Anthology.
It seems Sony may have let Supermassive Games slip through its fingers, not realising what it had. Of course, there's still time for Sony to purchase the studio and put them to work on an Until Dawn sequel and some more VR titles.
