10 Video Game Developers That Sony Should Buy

6. Ready At Dawn

Ready At Dawn

Sony and Ready At Dawn have worked together since 2006, with the partnership producing Daxter, God of War: Chains of Olympus, and God of War: Ghost of Sparta on the PSP. While transitioning to the PS4, Sony contracted Ready At Dawn to craft an exclusive new IP, which resulted in the disappointing The Order: 1886.

While that may not seem like grounds to buy a studio, it was clear Ready At Dawn had something special with the IP, even if the first game wasn't great. It was absolutely gorgeous, built upon an impressive engine, and the story hinted at a large, fascinating world of vampires and werewolves.

Why not bring Ready At Dawn on board and do a sequel to The Order? It might not be the most obvious, cash-making move for Sony but it's a world worth revisiting, and one that a fantastic story-driven shooter could be built within.

In the years since The Order: 1886, Ready At Dawn has made four well-received VR titles for Oculus. So even if Sony wasn't interested in returning to The Order, the developer is clearly capable of crafting VR titles or even spin-offs of existing franchises as it did on the PSP. Ready At Dawn is something of a Swiss-army knife, and thus a great studio for Sony's portfolio.
