10 Video Game DLC Packs That Are The Most Value For Money
2. Destiny: The Taken King
These days, Destiny isn't a game that finds its way onto many "best of" lists. In fact, there aren't an awful lot of people willing to say anything positive about Bungie's hybrid MMO shooter. Whether all of the criticism aimed at the game is fair, there's definitely a lot to be said for the way it's evolved and grown since day one.
With The Taken King, Destiny received its third and best DLC pack a year after the game's initial release. This pack features what's easily the best story of an already well-packed universe, setting players in a conflict against Oryx. Having already killed his son Crota, the player's Guardian is a pivotal part of the rise of Oryx and his army of 'Taken' soldiers. The new campaign runs through at a blistering pace, and it's a hell of a ride for accomplished players.
What's most impressive for The Taken King is the fact that it revitalised a failing game so well. The Taken King shows that Bungie are aware of what the Destiny community have been searching for, and they made the appropriate changes. Rather than a DLC pack that tells gamers "this is what you should be wanting", the expansion actually provided its fans with many of the things they had been crying out for.
Some of these even found their way to the free enhancements, meaning all players could benefit from the improvements. Missing out on the new story conflict would be a major error, however, and The Taken King is definitely worth investing in if you're a Destiny player.
