10 Video Game DLC That's Actually Worth The Money

7. Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare

Nowadays many call adding a 'zombie mode' a fairly lazy attempt to breathe new, albeit undead, life into a game. However, this notion didn't stop Rockstar from offering an incredible expansion to the already monumental Red Dead Redemption. Adding a novel horror element, 'Undead Nightmare' showed how including zombies in a game can be both scary and corny in spades.

The expansion is fairly, well, expansive, including an original story that sees John Marston re-encounter plenty of characters he had met along the way in the main campaign. It's these meetings that allow Rockstar's fantastic writing to shine through, especially when it pokes fun of the zombie narrative. One such scene features finding MacDougal again, only for him to be quickly devoured when innocently strolling down what he proclaims to be a dark, quiet and desolate street.

Of course it's the gameplay that's been altered the most though, exchanging firefights with living law-breakers with fights for survival against undead hordes. There's also supernatural hunts to embark on, whether it's against Mexico's fabled El Chupacabra or the woefully misunderstood Sasquatch. And then there's the majestic sight of seeing John Marston taming a unicorn; and who doesn't want to see that?
