4. War Of The Chosen - XCOM 2
Few are going to sit here and disparage the great XCOM 2, but to developer Firaxis' credit, they delivered one hell of a beefy DLC expansion with War of the Chosen.
As terrific as XCOM 2's base game is, War of the Chosen makes it seem truly vanilla by comparison, with the comprehensive changes it makes to the game's structure, story, and gameplay, while adding in new hero characters, enemies - namely the titular aliens - modifiers, and so on.
If you're a lapsed XCOM 2 player who fell off the base game, give War of the Chosen a go and you'll likely find yourself unable to pull away. And once you've started, going back to the OG iteration just seems unthinkable.
In addition to addressing the base game's infamously steep difficulty curve, it just feels like the way to play XCOM 2, overhauling the gameplay and narrative in seriously satisfying ways.
