10 Video Game Easter Eggs Nobody Understands

8. The Cat Shrine - Control

One of the secret achievements from Control's The Foundation DLC, "One of Us," requires players to collect eight maneki-nekos - that is, Japanese cat figurines scattered throughout the game world.

Collecting each cat typically requires completing a puzzle first, and once you've found all eight, a hidden passage will be unlocked.

This passage will grant the player access to a bizarre cat shrine, containing dozens of maneki-nekos including a giant one that waves disconcertingly at the player.

That's not all, though - players will also be rewarded with a pair of cat ears which they're able to wear for the rest of the game should they so wish.

They're purely cosmetic and offer no gameplay advantages, while fans are still trying to figure out what cats have to do with, well, anything else in the game.
