10 Video Game Enemies So Hard They Got DELETED

6. The Giant Fiend - Quake

Fallout 4
iD Software

Many planned enemies ended up being cut from seminal FPS Quake, chiefly a giant version of the Fiend enemy featured throughout the game - a four-legged beast which can slash with its claws, move scarily fast, and leap considerable distances to pursue the player.

But because that's not inherently horrifying enough at any scale, the Fiend was originally going to be absolutely humungous, yet during QA testing this caused major technical headaches.

Above all else, the creature's mammoth scale would cause the game to randomly crash, because PC games gonna PC game.

Unable to figure out a way to stop this towering abomination from crashing the game - possibly as a result of system RAM limitations - developer id Software ultimately opted to ditch this decidedly more imposing version of the Fiend and scale it down considerably.

The Fiend is still pure, uncut nightmare fuel even in its more "diminutive" form, but we can only imagine how wild it would've been to battle a king-sized version.
