8. Mew And The Truck

This is a story so dense that it sort of depends on what your perspective is when it comes identifying the truth and the lie.

Back in the pre-internet school playgrounds of the 1990s it was the wild west of urban myths. The existence of Mew in Pokémon Red and Blue was largely known through gaming magazines but everyone and their dog had their own story on how to capture the elusive 151st Pokémon.

The most infamous perhaps, and potentially most believable, was trading a Lv100 Nidoking to a member of Team Rocket in Silph Co for a set of car keys. Provided you had used some trickery to return to the Poké-Centre from the S.S. Anne then the ship would still be docked, allowing you to access that screen, surf to the right and use the keys to move a truck to discover Mew.

Of course it was nonsense - a ten year old can’t operate a truck!

In truth, whilst it’s possible to catch Mew via glitches, there is no legitimate means stored within the game.

The thing is, just because most of the story is a lie doesn’t mean it all is. Players who looked into this discovered that there is a truck parked next to the S.S. Anne. It's purpose however is still a mystery.
