10 Video Game Failures (That Still Made Millions)
6. Wii Play
Approx. Units Sold: 28 million
Coming off the back of the hugely successful Nintendo Wii and the equally successful Wii Sports Resort, Wii play was expected to add further dimensions and game choice to Nintendo's revolutionary console.
It offered a selection of mini-games which were meant to entice Wii players into further delving into the console's unique gaming style, but it ultimately proved a bit of a disaster to play.
The games were tiresome and quickly ensured players were bored within hours of trying out things like table tennis, laser hockey, and fishing. The angling game was particularly depressing.
However, much like the Wii in general, Wii Play was a huge commercial success and brought in millions of dollars for Nintendo.
It sold copies by the millions and comfortably broke the twenty million barrier. Indeed Wikipedia even ranks it on its highest selling video games of all time list.
